Douglas Vineyards

After spending time talking with one of the owners of Douglas Vineyards, Doug, at the Toast of Kannapolis, we knew we had to stop by the vineyard to experience more of what Douglas Vineyards has to offer.

Located in Kannapolis, NC, Douglas Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery that opened its doors in 2015. Driving onto the property, it was apparent that the “D” is a popular winery, with cars lining the main parking lot as well as the overflow lot. Despite the number of guests attending, there was still ample seating both inside and outside the venue.

Parking in overflow allowed us to walk through the vineyard and see the grapes before entering the tasting room.

The tasting room greets visitors with an expansive front patio with plenty of seating. Inside the room, eclectic wine decor adorns the walls with a large “DV” prominently displayed behind the bar. The tin front bar invites guests to stay a while with hooks to hang your bags or belongings.

Our wine server, Todd, shared the list of 20 wines: ten fruit wines, three Muscadine wines, two estate grown wines, four dry wines, and two blends. We were instructed to choose any six wines we wanted. We loved this option because we didn’t have to stick to a sweet flight or a dry flight. Todd was fantastic and shared a wealth of details about the wines he poured.

Not only does Douglas Vineyards have delicious, award-winning wines, but they also offer a selection of local cheeses, preserves, salsas, dressings, pickled vegetables, and snacks. Visitors can also pick up fun wine gifts, including shirts, glasses, signs, etc. There’s so much to see while relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this young North Carolina winery and can’t wait to see how it grows.

Until our next glass…
